- My Couriers (both of them) were originally small footprint Courier Dual
- Standard with V.32bis and 16.8K HST, upgraded to V.terbo, then upgraded to
- V.fc, then flashed up to V.34 (and then V.34+).

- The problems you see are most likely caused by the unloaded cable you are
- using for your tests. Place a 900 ohm network in that path and the echo
- effect will be greatly reduced and the rates will be right where mine
- are. Or you could just use a dial-up connection that you know is
- reasonably clean (gets you stable 28800 connects over 90% of the time)
- and run repeat tests.
-
- I do not know why your Supra gets good rates under your test. It makes
- little sense to me that it would perform well under what should be
- terrible conditions for a modem connection. Especially since my Supra
- consistently gets lousier rates (connect rates and compressed file
- transfer rates) on the same lines that my Courier's find almost perfect.
